FOLIOS ONE

Arrival   Bharatpur

The journey begins in Bharatpur. As the afternoon light softens, we enter the wetlands of Keoladeo for our first exploration  no rush, only observation. Forest paths disappear into golden light. Water mirrors the sky. Birds emerge from the reeds. Trees become silhouettes.

A familiar landscape begins to reveal itself through light, colour, and atmosphere.

The Wetlands

 Come Alive

We begin before sunrise. The forest is quiet, the air is cold, and the first light slowly finds its way through the trees. Birds take flight. Waterfowl gather. Kingfishers wait. Raptors scan the horizon.

The goal isn't simply to photograph a bird  it is to anticipate a moment, understand light, and turn a fleeting second into a photograph made with intention.

As the sun falls, a different Bharatpur appears.

The Taj Mahal

One final morning in the wetlands one last chance to photograph them as the day begins. Then the forest is behind us. The landscape changes. The subject changes. Our way of seeing changes with it.

By evening, we look for another Taj entirely  through reflection, symmetry, shadow, and the details easy to overlook.

A familiar subject can still produce an unfamiliar photograph.

Agra · Fatehpur Sikri

We return to the Taj in softer morning light  architecture becomes landscape, lines become composition, negative space becomes its own subject.

By evening, Fatehpur Sikri's red sandstone begins to glow. Arches frame the sky. Courtyards create layers. Light moves across walls and disappears through doorways.

Where the Taj is elegance and symmetry, Fatehpur Sikri is texture, geometry, and scale.

Final Morning ·

Back To The Wilds

I f the journey and logistics allow,         we return to Bharatpur for one final sunrise  a quiet morning, one last walk through the forest. Perhaps a bird rising through mist. Perhaps nothing more than beautiful light.

The photograph begins long before we press the shutter. It begins with seeing.

Frequently Asked

Is this workshop suitable for beginners?

Yes. You don’t need to be an expert photographer. What matters more is your willingness to walk, observe, wait and photograph. We will work at a pace that allows everyone to develop their own way of seeing.

Why January and February?

"Winter brings migratory birds to Bharatpur's wetlands and the coolest, mistiest light of the year  both the wildlife and the atmosphere are at their best."

Do I need wildlife lenses AND architecture gear?

"A longer lens helps in Bharatpur, but this is as much about seeing as equipment  guidance is built around whatever you bring."

Is Folio Five's return to Bharatpur guaranteed?

"It happens whenever the journey and logistics allow — usually yes, but it's held loosely by design rather than promised."

Are tripods allowed at the Taj Mahal?

"Restrictions apply and can change; we'll brief everyone on current monument rules before each session."
