Spiti Valley doesn't reveal itself quickly. It makes you earn it through long winding roads, thin air at 3,800 metres, and a silence so complete it feels deliberate. This is an 8-day road trip built for photographers who want more than a beautiful backdrop.
We're here for the Milky Way rising over Key Monastery, for first light over Kinnaur Kailash, and for the impossible blue water of Chandratal at 4,300m the Moon Lake of Spiti.

Exploring Kalpa Village
Early departure toward Kalpa in Kinnaur district. Traditional wooden houses, ancient temples, the dramatic cliffs of Suicide Point. As evening settles, golden light spills across the Kinnaur Kailash range one of the most photogenic sunset canvases in the Himalayas.

Meet Your Expedition Leader
Leading this expedition is Ganesh Bagal, a professional landscape photographer and photography educator with over 15 years of experience.
Having led multiple photography expeditions across Spiti Valley, Ganesh has spent years exploring its remote villages, high-altitude landscapes, monasteries, and night skies. His experience in the region ensures participants are at the right locations, at the right time, to make the most of Spiti's unique photographic opportunities.
His work has been recognized with Tamron Photographer of the Year (2015) and published in National Geographic, Sanctuary Asia, and several other publications. He has also served as a jury member for photography competitions, including contests organized by India's Ministry of Culture.
Ganesh proudly represents Sony Alpha, Peak Design, Haida Filters, Think Tank Photo, Godox, and Google Pixel, combining years of field experience with practical guidance to help participants create meaningful images while experiencing one of the Himalayas' most remarkable landscapes.

FAQ
Is altitude sickness a concern?
Yes Spiti sits above 3,800m, Chandratal at 4,300m. Day 1 is intentionally easy for acclimatization. Consult your doctor before joining, especially if you have cardiovascular concerns.
What gear do I need for astrophotography?
A fast wide-angle lens (f/1.8 or f/2.8, 14–24mm), full-frame or crop sensor body, and a sturdy tripod. We cover settings on-location before each night shoot.
How cold are the nights?
Days are warm (15–22°C) but nights drop near-freezing at high camps, especially Chandratal. Warm layers, gloves, and a sleeping bag liner are essential.
Is a drone allowed in Spiti?
Spiti is near a border area permits are required. We help coordinate in advance, subject to clearance on the day.
What are the roads like?
Roads to Chandratal are unpaved and rough. This is part of the road-trip experience. We use suitable vehicles and factor extra time into the schedule.
